Sequent & M:Pathy Renege EP (Fraktal Sound)
FRAKTAL SOUND unveil the latest release in their curated catalogue with RENEGE, an EP crafted in pairing by Austrian producers SEQUENT & M:PATHY that hones Drum & Bass’ core attributes with pinpoint precision. BFG opens the EP with the undulations of its rolling bassline that backs the flowing vox of Slippy Skills with undeniable force.
From here, PROVOCATE’s sibilant timbres carve through the speakers in a confident legato alongside the steady strut of the track’s percussive components. RENEGE then closes the EP that shares its name with exacting fervor, its bassline woven expertly into the cavernous atmospheric fabric within which it finds its home. With RENEGE, SEQUENT & M:PATHY thus mark themselves as devotees to Drum & Bass’ technical stylings and enter lock-step into the fore of FRAKTAL SOUND’s similarly minded sonic ranks.

What inspired M:Pathy and Sequent to collaborate with MC Slippy Skillz on their debut EP?
We have been working together on tunes for a while and we had the opportunity to work with Slippy as he was in Vienna last summer. We got in the studio and the tune pretty much wrote itself. Slippy was super quick to get vocals down! We thought it would be a great inclusion for the EP
How does the track "BFG" stand out from the other tracks on the EP?
BFG or Big Fuckin' Guns is an upfront vocal track. We had a lot of fun with Slippy making the track; it was a very creative session!
Can you describe the overall atmosphere created by the EP's title track, "Renege"?
The general atmosphere of the EP is dark and moody. We feel it has a nice balance of deep minimalism as well as still being club-friendly
What do you think the future holds for M:Pathy and Sequent following the release of "Renege" ?
We are currently working on our next round of projects together including with some more collaborators as well as keeping busy with our own individual solo projects.
Are there any upcoming events or showcases where fans can experience Fraktal Sound live in the near future?
We will be playing a launch party for the EP in May at Drumworks, Blackmarket in Vienna with Slippy Skills and a whole load of close friends!
